Bio

A Northern-born, Southern-transplant, Aaron Lett has recently graduated from Bowling Green State University’s master’s program for music composition in April 2023. His writing has often been compared to exciting and driven video game soundtracks, and he has written pieces for ensembles of all sizes, as large as orchestra or symphonic band to quartets and chamber duos. In his undergraduate career, Aaron was one of the founding members of the Composer’s Guild. While at BGSU, Aaron participated in several of the Composer’s Forums held twice a semester, as well as BGSU’s inaugural Praecepta Mini-Festival. His previous composition teachers include Drs. Christopher Dietz, Marilyn Shrude, and Joshua Burel.

In May 2021, he earned his bachelor’s in music education at the University of Southern Mississippi. Throughout his time at Southern Miss, Aaron performed in several ensembles, such as the Saxophone Chamber Orchestra, Jazz Labs, University Bands, and several saxophone quartets. He has also had the opportunity to perform in saxophone masterclasses with Pat Meighan, Christine Rall, and Andreas Von Zoelen. His primary saxophone teachers were Dr. Lawrence Gwozdz and Dr. Dannel Espinoza.

Currently, Aaron is working as an admissions counselor for the University of Michigan, inspired by the work he did with BGSU’s Music Admissions for his graduate assistantship. He is also actively receiving commissions, applying for festivals, and enjoying life outside of being a student before eventually diving fully into composing for video games and film scoring.
