Program Notes:
My piano playing skills are, for lack of a better term, lacking. When it comes to piano and percussion instruments, things just don't click the way they do with woodwinds. After one of my composition lessons at BGSU where Dr. Shrude helped me heavily edit the piano part for another piece, I decided that I could no longer use that as a excuse and came up with the idea to write short character pieces based on the places that I have traveled to help explore my writing on a more intimate size, rather than including the instrument in a larger ensemble. Piano Excursions I is the first of this series and feature Seattle's Chihuly Glass Garden Museum, Cincinnati's Underground Railroad Museum, and Tacoma's Owens Beach.
