A tender hug after a long-awaited reunion. The last moments before a very tough goodbye. The dissolution of differences and the beginning of acceptance. Warmth. These are all potential themes of Embrace. Originally for woodwind choir as I could think of no better median at the time to convey these (as well as slight bias a woodwind player myself), I wanted to delve more into larger ensembles and broaden some of the colors that this piece could have. I hope that each member of the ensemble will interpret the title in their own ways to add to the emotion and depth that I believe this piece can represent.
